Ana Dawson Sunshine Tour Update

In this update, Ana reflects on her performance playing on the Sunshine Tour in South Africa.

It has been a much busier start to my season than I have ever had before. 5 weeks in South Africa playing on the Sunshine Tour have now come to end and I have finally returned to the UK since leaving on 5 January!

It has been a great experience being away and competing for so long and many lessons have been learnt along the way. The first week at Fancourt was the highlight of the trip but I also enjoyed the weeks that followed, where I finished T-7th and T-19th.

Unfortunately, I had to withdraw from the final tournament in Cape Town after picking up a small injury. It wasn’t an easy decision to make as I have never withdrawn from a tournament before but upon reflection it was the right decision and I am sure I will be back at full fitness before the next stretch in 3 weeks’ time. Off the back of these results, I have secured a spot in the 2 Ladies European Tour events in South Africa next year.

It was nice to spend so much time in South Africa, as it gave me the chance to see the country and not leave straight after the tournament finishes! In the bit of spare time we had, I went up Table Mountain, did a safari and caddied on the DP World Tour for Will, my boyfriend down in Port Elizabeth which was a great learning experience for me.

I now have 3 weeks back in the UK to catch up with coaches and work hard before the next string of events. My first competition back is on 6 April where I will be trying to defend my title at the Roehampton Gold Cup! Straight after, I will be travelling to France to play in the first Ladies European Access Tour event of the season and then hopefully heading back to South Africa for 2 weeks to compete on the Ladies European Tour.
