Getting on board with Peter Cope: RL360 are sponsoring young sailing star

We are delighted to announce our agreement to sponsor Peter Cope, a talented sailor making waves with The Manx Youth Sailing Squad.

We are delighted to announce our agreement to sponsor Peter Cope, a talented sailor making waves with The Manx Youth Sailing Squad.

Peter Cope started sailing aged 6 with the Isle of Man Yacht Club in Port St Mary. Having discovered a love and a talent for the sport, he soon moved on to racing RS Tera dinghies with the Manx Youth Sailing Squad aged 9.

Since then, the 13-year-old sailor from Castletown has gone from strength-to-strength, racing in the UK RS Tera circuit for the past few years, and achieving several top 5 finishes. He also attained success competing in 2 RS Tera World Championships and, during the 2019 Worlds in Sweden, Peter’s exceptional performance saw him win second place overall.

Our sponsorship will see Peter retire his old RS Tera boat (which he has now outgrown), and will enable him to advance to an RS Aero dinghy. The RS Aero is a high-performance vessel, and popular with championships around the world; making its capabilities the perfect match for Peter’s ambitions.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Peter said he was thrilled by the support, and thanked RL360 for their kind generosity. He went on to say that he is looking forward to repaying us with top-class performances in the forthcoming Aero circuit - in the UK and Europe. The sponsorship agreement will also see Peter provide regular reports about his training and competition progress.

RL360’s Marketing Director, Simon Barwell, commented: “We are very excited by this latest sponsorship initiative which continues our track record of supporting home-grown talent. The decision to sponsor Peter was also a natural choice as he embodies many of our values here at RL360- he’s talented, hardworking and most of all determined.”

We are really looking forward to following Peter through his forthcoming seasons and wish him the best of luck!
